First of all,i bought this game at a 90% discount. This is a 16-bit RPGMaker game and the first one of the "Ashes of Immortality" series,similar to the old school RPG's,with a vampire-vampire hunter plot.There is not much to tell about the combat system,it's pretty much the same with a random RPGMaker game and it won't surprise you.On the other hand,i think these games have more to do with the plot,the environment and the characters and less with the combat system. In my opinion the game is well-written with some sense of humour,with a very nice environment design,great music (for this game's category),sufficient character design and an interesting,subversive plot.In conclusion: i have not finished the game yet,but i will,as i have bought all the "Ashes of immortality" trilogy. It's a pleasant game to spare some time and i surely reccomend it if you like this kind of games and certainly if you get it at a 75%+ discount.Generally RPGMakers MUST understand that they cannot sell an RPGMaker game more than 3-5 euros (depending on the job the publisher has done). The majority of them are games with a sort time of gameplay,and easy programming with the RPGMaker programms on the market with nothing special except the love that gamers have for these old school RPG's. DO NOT take advantage of that because gaming community will punish you! I mean,why not to buy an old Assassin's Creed (II or Brotherhood) game with these money or a game from a different and large franchise which you haven't play?I reccomend this game but only on a large discount.... Flickering screen issue with nvidia grapics cards makes the game unplayable. Tried some of the things suggested in the online forums to no avail. Don't buy if you have an nvidia graphics card.EDIT: tried playing the game again recently and it's working now! Fun so far!. I am a sucker for old school RPGs. The plot seems to be well thought out, even a fine mix of humor built in. I like the characters and battle system. If there was a flaw it would be the mob lists. Dungeons consists solely of the same encounters over and over until you get to the boss\/end. Other than that, I love it.. If you like the classic rpg game, this was a pretty sweet game. I rather enjoyed the storyline and how it got all these different people to interact. It was a rather solid story with cool game play. THere was some lack of guiding, but it was a pretty awesome game, overall.. I was only able to play for a few minutes and then my virus software closed out of the game and said that it had detected a malicious virus and named this game. So I turned off my virus software and tried playing the game and it wouldn't load. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still wouldn't play. Then I had issues with my steam password. After hours of getting my password to reset, and in the meantime I had turned on my virus software again, I had enough. So I just uninstalled it again. I also uninstalled the sequel since I wasn't able to play the original that has malicious software. Not worth it.
